The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) has launched its first t-shirt line, and all proceeds will go towards the country's bid to win ten or more gold medals at the 2024 Games.
Last month, TTOC signed an agreement with retailer The Fan Club, which agreed to sell merchandise at three locations in the build-up to the Rio 2016 Olympics.
A preview of the t-shirts has led to positive comments on social media and they are available to buy at Fan Club stores in Gulf City, MovieTowne and Trincity Mall.
It is hoped by TTOC that they will be seen as perfect stocking fillers ahead of Christmas.
Trinidad and Tobago won one gold medal at London 2012, in a total haul of four, and have set themselves the lofty target for 2024 as part of an ambitious drive for the future.
This initiative, which includes a 2024 Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund, was given a boost in July when TTD$750,000 (£76,000/$118,000/€107,000) was donated by the Trinidad and Tobago arm of motoring giant Toyota.
The partnership with The Fan Club also includes shorts, water bottles, coffee mugs, key chains, pins, jackets and track outfits.
It is hoped that the partnership with the retailer, who also have a relationship with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, will enable fans of the country's sportsmen and women to have a closer relationship with their heroes in the build up to Rio 2016.
