Trinidad and Tobago’s 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying competition kicks off today with the “Women Warriors” taking on Central American rivals Guatemala this evening at the BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas, at 9pm (T&T time).

However, despite the best efforts of the current coaching staff and team management, it remains to be seen how the players will fare in the competition which requires them to make it to the final in order to qualify for the Olympic Games.

The biggest question regarding the team is their match-fitness and chemistry, as last year proved an inactive sequel to their heroics in 2014 when they attempted to qualify for the 2015 Women’s World Cup. During 2015 the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) arrived as promised, and was a success despite a lot of the expected hiccups that come with organising tournament football.
