Trinidad and Tobago cricketer/entertainer Dwayne Bravo’s music video hit “Champion” has been steadily rising in popularity since the West Indies’ triumph in the ICC World Twenty20 final on Sunday and as of yesterday, had attracted almost twice as many YouTube views as T&T’s top soca artiste Machel Montano’s “Like Ah Boss” video of 2015.
As of yesterday, Bravo’s “Champion” had registered over 6.5 million views after being launched just last month, while Montano’s “Like Ah Boss” had received just over 3.5 million.
Bravo will be flying the Trinidad and Tobago flag high in India over the next few weeks, playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) alongside fellow T&T cricketers Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Lendl Simmons, and will even be on stage during the tournament’s opening ceremony.
“Dwayne Bravo is performing his ‘Champion’ dance during the opening ceremony of IPL-9 in Mumbai. His performance will be the special attraction and there might be a few more West Indies cricketers, who will perform alongside Bravo,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said on Wednesday.
