Local athletes are set to gain invaluable international insight into the business of sport as the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) stages an Athlete Branding and Sponsorship Workshop on Friday March 9th, 2018.
International athlete sponsorship expert Australian Vickie Saunders will be the main facilitator for the workshop which will focus on Brand Building. Saunders, the founder of The Sponsorship Consultants, has worked with sports organisations such as the USA Olympic Committee, the English Institute of Sport, the Canadian Institute of Sport, the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Committee as well as global companies ASICS and the Amer Sports Group.
TTOC Executive Member and former Miss World Giselle Laronde-West and Katherine Ramatali will also guide attendees through sessions on Sports Etiquette and Finance respectively.
The workshop is part of the TTOC’s ongoing thrust of providing development programmes in line with its overall goal of being athlete-centred. It will cater to sixty (60) elite level and national athletes including participants in the upcoming Commonwealth Games as well as potential representatives for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games and Youth Olympic Games.
Rheeza Grant, TTOC Project Officer – Athlete Services and Programmes says the objective of the Workshop is to provide athletes with knowledge and strategies which can be applied both on and off the field of play.
“It is important for the TTOC to have and encourage these kinds of initiatives for athletes. The more knowledge we can give to athletes with respect to their brand, public image and etiquette – what a professional and mentoring athlete must portray in terms of professionalism – the better. Giving advice on how to budget and manage finances is also crucial in these economic times.”
The TTOC Athlete Branding and Sponsorship Workshop will be held at the BPTT Box at Queen’s Park Oval, this Friday March 9th. BPTT is an official TTOC partner. The Workshop starts at 9:00am with registration beginning at 7:30am.
