Stacy Santana, Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) Administrative Officer will lead the TeamTTO team as Chef De Mission (head of delegation) for the 2023 Pan American Games carded to take place in Santiago, Chili, 20th October - 5th November.
The naming of the Chef de mission was confirmed today 4th October following the ratification of the delegation by the TTOC’s Council members in a meeting held virtually.
Santana, who also was the Chef De Mission for the 2022 Caribbean Games held in the French Island of Guadeloupe, brought her team home with 17 medals. As Chef she will carry the team of 100 participants, comprising of 64 athletes and 36 officials. Trinidad and Tobago will be represented across 12 sporting disciplines (athletics, badminton, basketball 3x3, boxing, canoe, cycling, golf, gymnastics, hockey – field, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting).
Former Beach Handball athlete, Jariel Mc Collin, will be assisting Ms. Santana as well as TTOC’s Social Media and Communication Specialist, Melanie Gulston, the named press attache for the Games.
Ms. Santana will also have the support of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rudranath Ramsawak along with his team comprising of another doctor – Dr. Rhonda Watkins, 2 Physiotherapists – Jelani Baptiste and Karielle De Bique as well as 3 Massage Therapists – Brent Elder, Odessa Chandler and Derek Ashby – Williams.
“It is indeed an honour to be named Chef De Mission for one of the highest multisport Games” Santana added. She then stated “It is also my duty to ensure that great amount of support is given to all members of the team, before, during and after the Games with the priority being the athletes as they are the ones who go to battle for our country”.
