The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) today confirms the final sports program for the ANOC World Beach Games San Diego 2019, with 15 exciting, youth-centric sports guaranteeing world-class athletes and captivating entertainment for the event’s inaugural edition.

The announcement comes after ANOC signed formal participation agreements with all 15 of the participating International Sports Federations [IFs]. For the first time, the 15 sports, with 17 disciplines in total, featuring on the ANOC World Beach Games San Diego 2019 sports program can be officially confirmed:

* Triathlon – Aquathlon
* Basketball – 3X3
* Cycling – BMX
* Sports Climbing – Bouldering
* Handball – Beach Handball
* Karate – Individual Kata
* Sailing – Kitefoil Racing
* Skateboarding – Park

* Football – Beach soccer
* Surfing – Shortboard & Longboard
* Swimming – Open Water 5km
* Tennis – Beach Tennis
* Beach Volleyball – 4×4
* Waterskiing – Waterski Jump & Wakeboard
* Wrestling – Beach Wrestling

It is anticipated that the 15 sports will bring together approximately 1,300 athletes from every Olympic continent, across six days of competition.

Technical Delegates from each of the 15 IFs participating at San Diego 2019 arrive in the Southern Californian city today. The IF Technical Delegates will spend the next two days receiving briefings from the ANOC Technical Working Group and the local organizers, visiting the single, integrated competition site at San Diego’s Mission beach, and discussing plans for venue operations and qualification procedures.

ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said:
“This sports program demonstrates what the ANOC World Beach Games are all about. At San Diego 2019, we’ll see elite athletes from 15 exciting sports that individually attract huge global youth audiences. Every discipline is dynamic, accessible and fantastic entertainment. By bringing them together for the first time under the ANOC World Beach Games banner, we will connect the NOCs of the world with a new generation of young sports fans.”

ANOC Coordination Commission chairman Timothy Fok said:
“We are very proud of the sports program we have developed, and grateful to the International Federations for their cooperation and support. With the IF representatives with us here in San Diego this week, we can make important progress in finalising our venue planning and qualification procedures. Our goal is to bring the best athletes from every sport and give them a world-class stage to perform.”

San Diego 2019 local organizing committee President Vincent Mudd said:
“The Local Organizing Committee for ANOC World Beach Games 2019 has been working extensively with our partners at ANOC as well as the International Federations, to develop the Sports Program and we are truly excited to reach this milestone and launch these Games to the world. The 2019 Games will feature high level competition in vibrant, youth centric sports coupled with music and cultural festivities that will ensure a truly memorable experience. We are looking forward to welcome the technical delegates tomorrow and San Diego is ready to host the world in 2019.”
